What is methadone, and is it right for me?
Methadone is a synthetic opioid approved by the FDA for
the treatment of opioid use disorder (opioid addiction).
With proper management and dosage, methadone can relieve cravings, suppress withdrawal symptoms, and block the euphoric effects, or “high”, of other opioids.
When used correctly, methadone is safe, non-sedating, and supports recovery from opioid addiction.
Methadone is dispensed at EJAL in liquid form and taken daily. EJAL patients receive counseling, medical exams, and medication management as part of their therapy.
